We want to hope this year ends on a positive note and continues into a safe and prosperous New Year for everyone from me and my team here at Birminghammoneyman and we hope for a healthy 2021 for all of us.
Property values have held up remarkably well during the pandemic due to the fact of a shortage of stock, undiminished consumer demand, and the Stamp Duty Holiday (which is due to end in March).
If 2020 has proved nothing else, it has confirmed you’ll never stop the Brits from wanting to put their foot onto the property ladder and be homeowners.
In terms of my predictions for 2021, despite rising unemployment, I fully expect the consumer demand for buying property to continue.
More people are continuing to spend more time at home, and, naturally, people might look for something larger, better, or with a lot more land.
We will also see lots of remortgage activity from customers who are happy where they are living but would like to invest in their homes by extending them or creating home offices.
Interest rates are still low, and off the back of Brexit, the Government will be keen for the property sector to thrive given that it is one of the “wide multipliers”, e.g. it sustains lots of jobs.
Once the vaccine gets rolled out entirely, and life gets back to some form of normality. I believe there will be many people who adopt a “life’s too short” outlook, and this should be good for the economy as a whole, especially those involved in the property market.
If you need expert mortgage advice in Birmingham and would like to speak with one of our dedicated mortgage advisors about taking out a mortgage or life insurance in 2021 please do get in touch, we’ll be happy to help.
For National Apprenticeship Week 2020, we thought we’d pause for a minute to think about to reflect upon our younger employees who recently completed their apprenticeships, as well as those who are currently working their way through one.
Following the success of earlier apprentices Thomas Bowes (formerly of the Customer Care team, now a Mortgage Advisor in York) and Laura Aves (a Dedicated Case Handler who assists our Mortgage Advisors in York), we decided that apprenticeships were the way to go when looking to hire new employees.
It gives us a feeling of pride and accomplishment, allowing youngsters to encounter an opportunity in what is likely their first employment, allowing them to learn and grow with skills they wouldn’t otherwise learn. We’re helping to build their futures whilst they’re also able to earn a living.
Former apprentice Michael Sallabank undertook a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship with the company.
Two years after his starting date and Michael is very much still a part of the Moneyman team. It’s been several months since he completed his apprenticeship and he’s now a fully-fledged digital marketer.
As a collective, the Marketing team helps create brand awareness, allowing potential home buyers to take their first steps towards Mortgage Advice in York.
Next, we have Chloe Masters, who is celebrating her 1st work anniversary today. Chloe is one of the youngest members of the Yorkmoneyman team, now becoming a Dedicated Case Handler.
Finishing her apprenticeship recently, Chloe now joins fellow former apprentice Laura in assisting the Mortgage Advisors in York with their work.
At this present time, the Yorkmoneyman group has three Apprenticeships. Lee Underwood, Daniel Beardsmore and James Lawson all joined the group in late 2019, undertaking a Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, the marketing disciples hope to take the mortgage head-on and create even more brand awareness for budding home buyers looking to find expert Mortgage Advice in York.
Here at Yorkmoneyman, we appreciate everyone who walks through our doors and we always enjoy watching our apprentices grow over time as both workers and people. We look forward to seeing who joins our team in the future!
Every month we look back on each employee’s hard work from the previous month, rewarding those who have gone above and beyond in the workplace. This is a real confidence booster for the winners, as well as everyone else in the company.
It’s a special moment, being appreciated and thanked for all your hard work. Makes you feel like a valued member of the team.
Without further ado, here are our Company Champions for August of 2019.
Kayleigh encourages positivity in the workplace, like a ray of sunshine. Don’t let that fool you though, she’s a tough and determined member of our Mortgage Administrator team, with a strong desire to ensure all our customers get their deals finalised.
Once this is done, Kayleigh also asks the customers if they could leave us a review. After such a positive service from her, they’re always happy to do so. It’s these reviews that you see on our site, that encourage you to come with us when you have an enquiry. Without the reviews you may go to another broker, one who can’t help to the level we can.
Annie is a fantastic Mortgage Advisor, with many years of experience. She achieved her award by receiving fantastic feedback from customers, with one saying they can’t wait to come back to us in the future. As said before, these reviews really make a big difference.
Dedicated to the cause as always, Annie also accepts appointments at an exceedingly quick rate, speaking to customers as soon as she possibly can.
The level of Customer Service Annie provides is incredible, ensuring people get the answers they need not too long after they’ve asked for it.
Annie is also a very caring individual, taking on the work of others who are maybe away or struggling with their work-load. Her colleagues are appreciative of all she does for them.
Brummie born Nathan is what is professionally referred to in the industry, as an advising machine. Okay so maybe not entirely professional, but who can argue with results? Nathan is one of our hardest working, longest-serving and highest achieving Mortgage Advisors.
Nathan is very similar to Annie, accepting appointments almost as soon as they come in, even when they’re last minute! He has been known to work during days off or even after hours if it means ensuring the customer gets the 5-Star Service we know they deserve.
Not one to sit idly, Nathan also likes to complete as many mortgages as humanly possible, making sure his cases are done promptly and efficiently, before quickly moving on to do more. He truly cares about his customers and he shows this daily through his work.
In first place, we have Michael Sallabank. Michael, or as he affectionately is known, Mikey, started in early 2018 as an apprentice in our Marketing Department.
He has spent the past year and a half working incredibly hard to achieve everything in his path. Within the last few weeks, Mikey was presented with a certificate, for completing his Level 3 apprenticeship in Digital Marketing.
Mikey is also known for his desire to solve every problem he comes into contact with. He does not like problems he can’t fix and tends to exhaust every option in his arsenal he has in order to ensure everything is back on track. 9 times out of 10, the problems can be solved.
This does not go unappreciated by his peers either as issues can often leave them anxious, however, Mikey is quick in his work and fixes the problems efficiently and promptly.
A huge thank you to all of our team for working so hard last month. Here’s to another great month!
Earlier this week we welcomed a new addition Joe Dewsbury to our mortgage advisor team.
Over the years you may have spoken to or seen online, near 40-year veteran Wayne Dewsbury. Joe is his son, hoping to follow in the footsteps of his father.
Joe previously had worked at a high street bank for 3 years, before deciding to take the leap to the Mortgage Advisor in York world. With star advisor Matt Collinson as his tutor, Joe hopes to make quite the impact as a part of our brilliant mortgage team.
Ever the comedian, Wayne believes his son is working with Matt instead of himself due to the top brass wanting to “stick him with a proper advisor”. One thing is certain, if he can even slightly replicate the likes of Matt or Wayne, he’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the wide world of mortgages.
Today we took part in Macmillan Coffee Morning, an event that the charity encourages others to engage in as a means to raise money for cancer support. We’ve taken part in many of these over the years, helping out the charity where we can.
This year was one of the best yet, with some amazing food brought forward by our amazing employees.
These included;
All of these went down a treat with our staff and our building neighbours, who donated a solid amount for Macmillan Cancer Support.
We are very thankful for everyone that baked, donated, tasted and had fun during our coffee morning. We’re all super full, but we can’t wait for next years event!
We’ve once again reached the end of the quarter, achieving a staggering amount of reviews. This is thanks to all the hard work from our fantastic mortgage team, ensuring all of our customers receive the best service they can possibly offer.
It’s thanks to this that many of our customers give us such high praise on both Reviews.co.uk and Google.
Below we thought we’d share with you a selection of the lovely reviews we’ve received over the month!
“All staff, very efficient, communication excellent and found us a great deal on our mortgage as my credit rating wasn’t great. Thank you very much Leo and Yorkmoneyman.”

Our team run by 5 simple rules
These include;
Make sure you contact the customer as soon as possible.
Always give the customer a service you would want for yourself.
The customer comes first. Reassure them when they’re down or anxious and do everything in your power to hopefully succeed.
We never lie to our customers or keep information hidden. Anything the customer wants to know; we will tell them.
Our team always stay positive towards customers. Even in defeat, they’ll always look to the bright side and see how they can help you in the future.
We are all very proud of the work we do. We can’t say every mortgage will be successful, but we’ll always work as hard as we can to make that happen.
We genuinely love our customers and seeing reviews make it all worthwhile. Here’s to another quarter of brilliant customer service and even better reviews!
Every year we like to help out where we can by taking part in various charity days. Making donations, sharing images, educating the workplace and those who follow us online.
When we saw that the 18th October 2019 was going to be a charity day bringing awareness to another great cause, we jumped at the chance to raise even more money.
The occasion was to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer Now, a charity who in merging with Breast Cancer Care earlier this year, aims to help fund a future where everyone who develops breast cancer survives, living a long and fulfilled life.
They’re supporting nearly 450 of the world’s best researchers across the UK and Ireland, to try and make a better life for anyone affected by this awful disease.
Our charity day started with everyone arriving in pink t-shirts (Compliance Manager Paula also opted for big pink heels) and getting covered with pink glitter on their faces, hands, arms and beards. As the day went on, things got even crazier!
We had photoshoots with all the staff, a quiz was passed around (it was a lot harder than it looked), there were a variety of cakes around the office, and we even had a raffle – Who doesn’t love a good raffle!
Overall the day was fun and full of excitement, finishing off with the fantastic news that we’d raised £161 for Breast Cancer Now. We’re incredibly grateful for all involved and their willingness to shed light on a cause that desperately needs more attention.
In particular we want to say thank you to our very own Mortgage Administrator Kayleigh Steward, whom without we wouldn’t have had this amazing day.
Our team pride themselves on providing a 5-Star Customer Service to every customer they speak to, easing them into the process and sticking by them every step of the way. This level of service is often why our customers leave such wonderful reviews and, in many cases, come back to us with more properties and/or their remortgage.
As a reward for such dedication to the company values and our customers, our very generous Directors treated the company to a lovely KFC Friday. Boneless Banquets, Zinger Stacks, Fillet Wraps – Only the best for our fantastic team!
It’s moments like this where you get to reflect upon the service we all provide as a collective, realising just how special things are.
From the Mortgage Advisors who work between them work 7 days a week from early in the morning until late at night, sometimes sacrificing their breaks in order to ensure customers get a full 5-Star experience.
To the Administrative team who deal with incredibly tough work on a daily basis, checking through details with a fine-toothed comb and ultimately ensuring a submission turns into an offer. Despite their often long days, they remain a beacon of positivity in the office and are an inspiration to us all.
Without the efforts of these teams combined, we wouldn’t receive the reviews we do, which in turn would leave us less business! We say this as recent case study research has shown a vast amount of our customers come to us based on what previous reviews have said.
We can’t thank our wonderful customers enough for being so kind to us in return! If you would like to see some of our most recent customer reviews, please see our customer reviews page.
Our customers mean the world to us and we are very proud of our ability to help them find their dream homes. If you need some Reliable Mortgage Advice in York, get in touch and we’ll see how we can help you.
